Recent weeks have seen much news on the development of PSP hacking with new exploits being discovered daily. Sony have caught onto the hacking and homebrew community and will be forcing PSP firmware updates in future games, starting with Midnight Club 3, Dead to Rights: Reckoning and Coded Arms, which are due for release, in the US, in the next few weeks. These games will not work unless the firmware update included on the game disc is installed.

You will be left with the choice of playing the latest games or making use of the homebrew apps such as emulators, but it would seem that, for now, you can’t do both. More firmware updates are expected, with some useful apps including a web browser and email client promised.
