DUST 514 developer CCP is currently in talks with Sony to negotiate universal microtransaction rules which will apply to the PlayStation Network.

Speaking in an interview with Develop, CCP CEO Hilmar Petursson explained that the ultimate goal of these negotiations with Sony is to create a new process whereby price tiers will be established for virtual goods, with revenue split between Sony and third-party developers.

Despite earlier rumours that the game would be available for digital download alone, CCP is also in the process of looking to bringing DUST 514 to retail.

Petursson added that a PlayStation Vita version of the game will also be available to “give people access to more asynchronous parts of the game”.

DUST 514 is the console tie-in to CCP’s popular MMO EVE Online. Sign ups for closed beta are currently open, while the MMO is scheduled for release in spring 2012.
