Hip, fresh and all new for a Monday morning, Sony today announced the arrival of a Pink PS2, to be shown for the first time at the Games Convention at Leipzig later this week. In a move possibly influenced by the success of the pink DS by rival manufacturer Nintendo, the new variation of the world’s most popular console looks to capture more of the female market later this Christmas.

PlayStation 2 is the accessible, affordable way to enjoy new social, communal and interactive entertainment experiences, through software titles like SingStar, Buzz and EyeToy,” according to Dan Hill, PlayStation 2 European Brand Manager. “The Pink PlayStation 2 is funky, fresh, and fashionable, and will further broaden the console’s continuing popularity and relevance with a fun new twist

So, this funky, fresh and fashionable console comes with two Dualshock analogue controllers and a handy memory card, all pink of course, and a copy of SingStar Pop. This value pack will be available in the UK on November 8 for £129.99, while the value pack minus SingStar Pop will be available across Europe for â¬159.99. While perhaps not quite as cute as a Pink DS and a copy of Nintendogs, it will no doubt catch the eye more than the standard black console.
