Sonic continues to have a future on consoles despite SEGA stating it will be shifting to a greater emphasis on mobile developments, the head of Sonic Team Takashi Iizuka has told Japanese publication 4Gamer.
Asked if there was a possibility that Sonic would be moved to portable devices, Iizuka said: “Currently we don’t … Personally, I don’t plan to stop Sonic for home-video game consoles. Don’t worry about them! And enjoy!”
One thing’s for sure. Sonic needs a hit on consoles to avoid his stock falling in value to the point that SEGA can’t justify the cost of console development.
