3DS platformer Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will release on September 27, 2016 in North America and September 30, 2016 in Europe, SEGA has announced, almost one year later than originally planned.
The game had originally been due to launch in winter 2015, but was pushed back “to make sure [it] has the time and polish needed”. The game is being developed by Sanzaru, the same team behind 2014’s 3DS title Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal.
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice introduces new playable character Amy alongside the previous game’s Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Sticks, plus new elemental gameplay that lets players freeze water or melt ice blocks.
A brand new Sonic game, meanwhile, could be revealed in July.
