Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is now free to play on iOS and Android devices, SEGA has announced.

Players can race as 10 characters at launch each with their own unique transformable vehicle, with more characters coming soon, including Wreck-It Ralph and Metal Sonic on April 29.

You’ll be able to race across the beachfront resort of OutRun Bay, barrel roll past asteroids in Sonic Colors’ Galactic Parade, and take on racers around the world with the new World Tour Chapter and Boss Cup Grand Prix.

In-game purchases will open up additional content, and those who previously paid for the game are given access to the VIP Pass (£2.99) at no additional cost – unlocking four characters, Grand Prix mode and Multiplayer.
