Widely-panned stealth shooter Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 has managed to flog over one million copies worldwide, CI Games has announced.

The figure includes both digital and retail sales of the game, which launched for PS4, PC, and Xbox One in April last year. Despite being the studio’s most ambitious title to date, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 wasn’t quite the critical darling they were hoping for, although nonetheless noted it ‘managed to come out relatively successful with this title.’

CI Games added that it has significantly downsized its internal studio as it turns to focusing on its unnamed tactical shooter, and is also in talks with a number of companies in regards to production of Lords of the Fallen 2. While details on the follow-up have been thin on the ground, the company described the fantasy-RPG as a ‘very important franchise in our portfolio.’

‘The decision to downsize the studio was the toughest decision I have taken over the past years—it is never easy to let go of friends and colleagues with whom we’ve worked for years-however I truly believe that it was the best way to move forward. Quality is not only extremely important to our upcoming tactical shooter, but it is important to every game we will bring to the market,’ commented CI Games’ CEO, Marek Tyminski.

The Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise has sold over seven million units worldwide since its inception in 2010.
