Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 has been delayed to January 27, 2017, CI Games has announced. The game had previously been due to release this year.

According to a translated press release from the publisher, the game has been delayed to ensure that it feels “unique”.

“Shortly before completion of the work, we found that we were our target, although close, however, would still need some time to ensure that SNIPER GHOST WARRIOR 3 is unique,” CI Games CEO Marek TymiÅ„ski said in a German press release. “We are pleased and welcome the patience and support of the waiting players. There are only a few months. And the wait is definitely worth it. “

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is the first open-world entry in the franchise and, as I discovered at E3 last year, feels like earlier games in the series crossed with Far Cry’s sandbox environment. It’s currently in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Rival shooter Sniper Elite 4, meanwhile, is still scheduled for release later this year.
