Sniper Elite V2 from developer Rebellion will be released for Wii U this spring, 505 Games has announced.

The Wii U version promises all new controls and a “level of interactivity only possible with the Wii U GamePad touch screen”.

As in the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions, American OSS agent Karl Fairburne visits historical locations throughout Berlin in an attempt to unravel the mysteries and dangers of the German V-2 rocket program, only now with the promise of “greater tactical depth and flexibility” thanks to GamePad functionality.

Through the GamePad it will be possible to tag enemies and booby-traps, track enemy locations and activity, and monitor the blast radius of planted explosives.

Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion said “Sniper Elite is just the kind of mature game that is perfect for the different mechanics of the Wii U. It’s been a challenge to get it right, but thanks to our team and the fantastic support of our partners at 505 Games we believe we’ve brought the unique gameplay to a whole new platform.”

There’s currently no firmer release date than spring 2013.

Sniper Elite V2 earned a 6/10 back in 2012.
