Sony has announced Snakeball, a new title for the PlayStation Network, coming to the PlayStation Store in the summer.

Described as the funkiest online sport ever created, Snakeball is a multiplayer game which sees hoversnakes collecting coloured balls to score points. Snakes can also flick other snakes with their tail or shoot them with weapons.

The game will feature a variety of Snakeball riders, plus support for the not yet released PlayStation Eye USB camera. This will enable players to map their face onto a rider.

We’re told of three game modes: keep feeding the snake to make it get bigger in single-player, take on the defences of game arenas in Challenge mode, or battle up to eight other snakes in Online mode.

Snakeball is lined-up for release in July.
