Jeremy Soule, the chap responsible for the soundtrack to The Elder Scrolls V: Skryim, has revealed he's not currently been asked to return for the sequel.

'As so many of my fans have asked… While I’ve not said much about this out of courtesy to Bethesda, I would never turn my back on TES, and I believe that my involvement would hinge on a creative decision on their part and where they want to take the franchise. To confirm, I am currently not involved with TES VI,' he wrote on Facebook (via VG247).

This is a bit of a shame, as Soule provided the score for not just Skyrim, but also The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The latter is easily one of my all-time favourite game soundtracks, and holds a lot of special memories to boot.

Things could change as The Elder Scrolls VI is still a long way off, although right now it doesn't look like he'll be back for the fantasy-RPG. Todd Howard actually knows when the game's coming out, but he's keeping mum. Sneaky bugger.

There's no sour grapes here though. Soule said he's sure the game will still be cracking without him and reckons whoever replaces him will do a good job.

Before that though, there's The Elder Scrolls: Blades, which is a mobile title that will be scored by Inon Zur of Fallout fame.
