Vicarious Visions, the studio behind Skylanders: Swap Force and next year’s Crash Bandicoot remasters, has partnered with Bungie to work on Destiny.

The studio says that it will help “further expand the Award-Winning Destiny Universe”, although it has yet to reveal exactly what projects it will be working on. You should probably assume it has something to do with Destiny 2.

Its involvement in the shooter series appears to be fairly substantial, too. Its Facebook header has been replaced with Destiny artwork, while a new logo for the studio revealed last week looks typically sci-fi.

What this means for the future of Skylanders, however, isn’t yet clear, although a rumour posted last month claims that next year’s game may have been cancelled following lower than expected sales of Skylanders Imaginators. The next project from Skylanders creator Toys For Bob has yet to be announced.

Destiny 2 is due to launch in 2017.
