Sony has announced that a new version of SingStar will be hitting the PlayStation 2 this year. Fans of the TV show Popworld will be pleased to here that the latest game will be branded with the shows name, creating SingStar Popworld.

The game (or torture device) will include 30 new songs from artists such as Avril Lavigne, Keane and Robbie Williams. A new rapping mode lets you battle against your crew. You have to wonder if anyone wanting to rap will want to do so using a Popword branded SingStar game. It doesn’t exactly scream credibility.

Newcomers to the series can purchase the game packaged with the required microphones and USB adapter and existing SingStar players can presumably pick up the game seperately. SingStar Popworld will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 2 this spring.

Sing more songs badly in front of your friends. New modes allow you to rap badly as well.
