As one of the most successful PC franchises of all time, it’s no surprise to see SimCity making a return. SimCity Societies looks to bring something a little different to the table, offering players the ability to not only create the cities they desire, but also to create cultures, societal behaviours and environments.
Players will be able to build an artistic city, haunted town, green city, spiritual community or pretty much any society they wish.
“There is such a variety of cities to build from in SimCity Societies – and they’re all such a blast to play,” said Vice President and Studio Head of The Sims Division, Rod Humble. “Sometimes I build an aggressive police state where stragglers are dragged off to re-conditioning centres and emerge ready for work. Other times, I build a green community in the tropics, where the citizens grow their own food and have a small environmental footprint. With so many options to choose from, SimCity Societies is the most flexible city building game ever!“
More than 350 different building types are available to choose from, each able to combine with other structures. Players can combine buildings to produce resources called social energies. How the player mixes these resources – industry, wealth, obedience, knowledge, devotion and creativity – will determine the social energy of the city. Cities will look and behave differently depending on the energy combinations in use – futuristic metropolises to obedient Orwellian states.
SimCity Societies is in development at Tilted Mill Entertainment and is scheduled for release for PC in November.
