The Mac version of SimCity will release on June 11, 2013, EA has announced – and if you’ve already bought the game on PC, you’ll be able to play it on Mac at no additional cost.

Players who pick up either version will be able to play the game on both PC and Mac, and be able to access their cities across both versions.

Unlike the PC version, however, the Mac version will only be available as a digital release sold via Origin priced at £44.99.

According to Maxis’ general manager Lucy Bradshaw, the Mac version has been “optimised for the hardware and OSX,” adding that the team “didn’t want to make any compromises when it came to the Mac”.

It carries a minimum system requirement of Snow Leopard 10.6.4, as well as a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB of RAM and an Nvidia 9400M/Intel HD3000.

SimCity has managed to sell over 1.3m units since its release last month, with its launch problems seemingly behind it.
