Another day, another game-to-film adaption. Fortunately for humanity, the movie version of Silent Hill isn’t being undertaken by Uwe Boll or Paul *insert libellous comment here* Anderson. Rather, it will be directed by Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) from a script written by Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction and Killing Zoe). So that seems all good then.
Throw in Sean Bean (does anyone else pronounce that ‘seen been’? No.. Oh..) playing the husband of lead actress Radha Mitchell (Pitch Black, Neighbours…) and you have the makings of a film that might not actually be that bad. Picking words carefully to not let them contain any praise whatsoever is a technique that most connoisseurs of gamefilms are adept at, but signs are pointing to a less-than-train-wreck event in history.
I’ll be proven very wrong, don’t you worry.
Filming began this week. No word on a release date as of yet. Keep ’em peeled.
