As the best-selling game in Konami’s 26-year-old horror series, Silent Hill 2 Remake is a huge success for developer Bloober Team. While the game released with some rather questionable technical hiccups, especially on Valve’s Steam Deck, a new patch has addressed numerous key issues with the game.
Bloober Team fixes Silent Hill 2 Remake
As detailed in the latest patch notes for the new horror game, all of Silent Hill 2 Remake’s key issues have been addressed in some form. Alongside fixing DLSS and better adding better FSR support, the game should now see less stuttering across all PCs. According to the patch notes, the intense stuttering on PC was caused by “sky map generation” in the game.
Alongside the fixed stuttering, the latest update also brings “improved performance and optimization for Steam Deck”. This means that the game’s already decent performance on Valve’s handheld should be even better.
On PlayStation, the new update also fixes issues with the game’s motion blur, crashes related to artificial intelligence, issues with textures and more. Alongside a host of bug fixes relating to collision and James getting stuck in weird places, the horror game should be more stable than ever before.
Additional fixes
As revealed in the patch notes, Silent Hill 2 Remake did leave in a number of developer objects that many didn’t notice. In the Blue Creek Apartments’ Clock Room, Bloober Team have now removed “debug numbers” that could display from behind wallpaper. In the Moth Room, Bloober have also stopped picture frames from overlapping in the Moth Room.
The latest patch also improves the general movement of gameplay during key moments. When switching weapons, James will now move in a more “natural” way.
