SEGA has announced that Shogun 2: Total War, the next instalment in Creative Assembly’s award-winning series, will be released globally on March 15, 2011.

Shogun 2: Total War will feature enhanced full 3D battles via land and sea, and a brand new AI system inspired by the scriptures that influenced Japanese warfare, the “Art of War”. By analysing the work of Master Sun Tsu, the Creative Assembly claims to have implemented easy to understand yet deep strategical gameplay.

A March 2011 release puts the game in the same release window as Crysis 2, Dragon Age 2, F.E.A.R. 3 and MotoGP 10/11, none of which should have any major impact on sales of the PC RTS.
