During the PC Gaming Show at E3 2019, it was revealed that Shenmue 3 will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC.
In an official Kickstarter update, developer Ys Net said, 'Development for Shenmue 3 has been moving forward using Unreal Engine and the support we have received from Epic has been excellent. Most importantly, in looking for the most enjoyable experience on PC, it was decided together with Deep Silver after much discussion that the Epic Games Store would be the best distribution platform option.'
This has come as a source of annoyance for some players who don't wish to support the Epic Games Store, and – as reported by The Verge – some of the game's Kickstarter backers have attempted to seek a refund based on the decision.
Amidst the rumpus, the trailer itself looked exciting, with a look at more of the game's combat and at some of the classic QTE set pieces.
Shenmue 3 is scheduled for release on November 19 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
