The trial version of Shenmue 3 being offered to Kickstarter backers that pledge $100 or more will not be released until 2017 at the earliest, Yu Suzuki has confirmed.
“The Trial version will require many of the basic systems to be functional first, so it will be released in the latter half of the development process,” Suzuki said in a recap of a Twitch Q&A posted on Kickstarter. “I would most likely be looking sometime after we get into 2017.”
The date means fans are likely looking at another 18 month wait for the trial version, with the full game expected to launch by holiday 2017.
The trial is also only planned to be available on PC.
The project currently sits at $3.75 million with 18 days of funding remaining.
