Shadow of the Colossus was revealed to be coming to PlayStation 4 during Sony’s E3 media briefing, and now it’s been confirmed that it’s a remake rather than a remaster.
Speaking to Famitsu (via Siliconera) Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said ‘The game content is the same as the original version, but all the assets are being remade.
While Yoshida has made it clear that ‘it is a remake,’ developer Bluepoint Games isn’t changing anything from the original, except for the controls.
‘Player preference for controls and such change over time, so we’re working on implementing a more modernized way to play,’ which is fair because the original PS2 title was first out in 2005.
While creator Fumito Ueda ‘wasn’t that involved much this time,’ according to Yoshida, certain diehards will probably lap up the opportunity to play this classic when it comes to PlayStation 4 in 2018.
