Shadow Complex Remastered is real and available to download now for free on PC. The game is also scheduled to launch on PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.

The remastered version of Chair’s 2009 Metroidvania includes support for an increased frame rate and resolutions along with all-new achievements and master challenges as players explore an underground complex to rescue their kidnapped girlfriend.

The game was well received by critics upon its release, with our 9/10 review calling it “a triumph” and “a new standard for downloadable games”.

“For a downloadable game, Shadow Complex is packed to bursting point,” our review said. “The main campaign, on the normal difficulty, won’t take you more than five or so hours to complete, but that’s only half the adventure. You’re compelled to reload and hunt down every single item, explore every nook and cranny of the massive complex in search of that final piece of armour. And when you’re done with that, there’s a raft of time-based one-off challenges to pit your skills against.”

If you want to grab it on PC, though, be quick: it’ll only be available for free for a limited time.

A price and exact release date for the PS4 and Xbox One versions, meanwhile, have yet to be announced.
