September NPDs: The Force Unleashed beats Wii Fit

According to sales data released by the NPD Group, it was LucasArts’ Star Wars: The Force Unleashed that came out on top for the month of September, with the Xbox 360 version earning sales of 610,000 units. The PS3 version of the game charts at No.5 with 325,000 units, while the Wii version is at No.9 with 223,000 units.

Wii Fit remains strong at No.2 with 518,000 units sold, EA and MTV Games’ Rock Band 2 totals 363,000 units on Xbox 360 and Mario Kart Wii is still popular at No.4 with 353,000 units sold.

EA’s Mercenaries 2 for Xbox 360 charts at No.6 with 297,000 units sold, Wii Play is at No.7 (243,000), Madden NFL 09 for Xbox 360 falls to No.8 (224,000) and the PS2 version rounds off the Top 10 with 158,000 units.

Although not featured in the Top 10, PC games also did rather well in September. Spore notched up impressive sales of 406,000 units, while Warhammer Online sold 274,000 units.
