SEGA’s 2013 remake of Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, the classic SEGA Mega-Drive platformer from 1990, will no longer be available to buy after September 2, SEGA has confirmed to Polygon.

The game’s removal boils down to the expiration of business terms between SEGA and presumably Disney.

“Due to an expiration of business terms, SEGA will no longer be able to sell Castle of Illusion on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, or Steam, with the current publishing arrangement coming to an end on September 2,” the company said in a statement.

Anyone who owns or buys the game prior to its removal will be able to “re-download it to their respective system at any point in the future – this delisting should not prevent current owners from being able to access the game at a later time”.

Despite looking rather nice, the 2013 remake from SEGA Studios Australia wasn’t able to match-up to modern gameplay standards and earned only a 4/10 in our review.

Only this week the Xbox 360 version was added to Xbox One backwards compatibility.
