Sega teased something known only as Project R during the closing moments of the SXSW Gaming panel over the weekend.Â
The brief teaser video doesn’t really show an awful lot apart from flash sports car revving its engines, followed by shadowy logo with only the text R given the spotlight. Interestingly, the R seems to be styled similar to the logo used for the Sega Saturn title Sonic R, although Sega has confirmed that the project is not a sequel to any existing Sonic title.
This would also seem to rule out a follow-up to the brilliant Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, although we could be looking at some sort of reboot or a new vehicular combat title based around the spiky speedster and chums. Regardless, this is almost certainly the new Sonic racing game we’ve been hearing rumours about as of late.
