SEGA has announced Viking: Battle For Asgard, an all-new console title from Creative Assembly, the acclaimed studio behind Spartan: Total Warrior.

In development for Xbox 360 and PS3, Viking will see players take on the role of Skarin, a young warrior who must stop the Goddess Hel from enslaving the mortal realm of Midgard and defend the future of mankind.

The action-packed title will see players utilising brute force and mythical powers to defeat the enemy, while exploring vast and visually stunning open-world environments.

Skarin will need to tame mighty dragons and free enslaved warriors to wage war on Hel’s legion and lead them into huge, epic battles featuring colossal giants, powerful shaman, deadly assassins and Hel’s own champions.

Viking: Battle For Asgard is scheduled for release early in 2008.
