SEGA has today announced an exclusive partnership with International Sports Multimedia to develop Beijing 2008 – the official Video Game of the Olympic Games. The multi-event title is currently in development at Eurocom Entertainment Software for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

The game will offer an authentic simulation of over 35 events from the Games and will also feature many of the official venues, from the famous Beijing National Stadium (the Bird Nest) to the National Aquatics Centre (the Water Cube).

Beijing 2008 will also incorporate innovative control schemes that hope to enable novice gamers to learn how to play the game, while experienced gamers can use more complex controls in order to set new records.

SEGA is also promising superb online gameplay, allowing players from around the world to compete against each other, and a host of game modes never seen in an official video game of the Olympic Games before.

“After the successful launch of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, we are delighted to announce the official video game of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games,” stated Gary Knight, Marketing Director of SEGA Europe. “Combining an enjoyable game with a truly global sporting license will provide a fantastic sports game experience for gamers everywhere.”

Look out for more on Beijing 2008 over the coming months.
