Mario has been in the Tennis racket for some time now with a successful Mario Tennis series appearing on numerous Nintendo platforms. Now, Mario’s long-time rival and his friends are coming together for some tennis action of their own.

Developed at Sumo Digital for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Wii and Nintendo DS, SEGA Superstars Tennis is described as an outrageous tennis game, full of your favourite characters, unusual courts and platform specific enhancements.

15 of SEGA’s most loved characters will be available in the game, including Sonic, AiAi from Super Monkeyball, Ulala of Space Channel 5 and Amigo from Samba De Amigo. Each character will feature unique attributes and also be equipped with superstar tennis skills.

With many courts to choose from, players will find themselves in a host of familiar locations including Green Hill Zone and Amigo’s Carnival Park. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature online play and we’re also promised a number of platform specific features for other platforms – motion control seems a cert for the Wii.

Look out for more info on SEGA Superstars Tennis over the coming months, with its release set for early in 2008.
