TimeGate Studios has announced that downloadable multiplayer FPS Section 8: Prejudice will arrive on Xbox LIVE Arcade on April 20.

PC gamers will be able to download the game via Steam, Games for Windows Marketplace and other digital distribution services from May 4, while PS3 gamers will have to wait until the summer for the game to arrive on PSN.

A loyalty program will reward players who bought and played the original Section 8, with different items for those who reached level 25 and level 50.

“As the release of Prejudice quickly approaches, we’re really excited to unveil loyalty rewards for players of the original Section 8. We think the very attractive $15 price point of Prejudice will introduce the franchise to a ton of new fans,” said Adel Chaveleh, president and CEO of TimeGate Studios. “Xbox LIVE Arcade is the perfect platform on which to debut our large-scale launch. With a little extra time on the PC and PlayStation Network launches, we will be able to ensure that gamers get the best possible experience and a solid launch on each and every platform.”

While Prejudice appears to be an improvement on the original, its release date couldn’t be timed any worse. April 21 sees the release of Portal 2, Mortal Kombat, Operation Flashpoint: Red River and Conduit 2.

A release earlier in April, during what is a quiet period, would have served the game much better.
