Nintendo has issued a pair of new firmware updates for Wii U and 3DS, improving the stability of both consoles.

Wii U’s version 2.1.0 U update offers “further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments… to enhance the user experience,” Nintendo says, although specific improvements offered by the 593MB update have not been disclosed.

Some users, however, have suggested that the update reduces the number of random hardware lock-ups, and improves the load times when switching between apps like Miiverse and the eShop.

But others disagree, saying that the improvements are “negligible”.

3DS, meanwhile, has also seen a similar update. Again, like the Wii U update, firmware update 4.5.0-10U offers “further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments… to enhance the user experience.”

Again, specific issues addressed by the update have not been revealed.

Nintendo is set to discuss the future of Wii U and 3DS during its next episode of Nintendo Direct. Tune in at 5pm tonight to find out what’s in store for the consoles early next year.
