The Animus Project Update 1.0 DLC for Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is now available to download free of charge for Xbox 360 and PS3.

The Animus Project Update 1.0 includes a brand-new game mode and brand new map for the game’s multiplayer mode.

Advanced Alliance, makes the original Alliance Mode with target identification and engagement more difficult than in original Alliance Mode. With three teams of two players each, Advanced Alliance is a tougher test for players and rewards teams that use stealth techniques to hunt their targets.

The new Mont Saint-Michel map is located on the rocky tidal island of Normandy in France. Its topography of narrow streets, high-perched bell-tower and multi-levelled architecture is perfect for hunters and predators.

Ubisoft also announced that Animus Project Update 2.0 will be available in January free of charge. The Animus Project Update 2.0 includes the Pienza Map – a free-running playground – and Chest Capture Multiplayer Mode, in which two teams comprised of three players each partner with fellow Templars to either defend or capture Chests.

Also included is the new Templar Score feature to reward diligent work by Abstergo recruits.

As expected, the early batch of content is focussing on expanding the game’s newly introduced multiplayer mode, and we expect this to continue in the new year. At some point down the line we expect Ubisoft to begin charging for extra content, although this might be saved for a more significant piece of DLC.
