Microsoft has announced that sea-shanty-singing adventure game Sea of Thieves is officially the platform holder’s fastest-selling new IP of the Xbox One generation.
Developed by Rare, Sea of Thieves launched on March 20 and saw over one million players take to the high seas in its first 24 hours on sale, later attracting two million gamers over one week. In addition, Microsoft claims that over 500,000 friendships have been forged in the same period on Xbox Live.
Elsewhere, over 100,000 Sea of Thieves players have streamed the game since launch, notching up over 10 million viewing hours. The game has also compelled over 400,000 budding pirates to join an Xbox Club to share their stories with others.
Alice spent countless hours at sea up to her neck in rum and plunder, although it became apparent that Sea of Thieves suffers from a bad case of repetition despite its obvious charms (have you seen those water effects though?).
