Rare has kicked off the first of what it promises to be a monthly content update schedule for Sea of Thieves in the wake of April's Anniversary Update with its new Black Powder Stashes missions.

During this event, pirates will be tasked with collecting explosive gunpowder kegs and attempting to get them back to shore to trade in for rewards and reputation with the game's various factions. There's also two special voyages that'll direct you between various pirate forts with plenty of the undead to mow throw, as well as of course other players.  Doing these succesfully will result in special commendations which can eventually also be traded in for an exclusive set of sails, flag and a figurehead.

You can read the full patch notes, including the balancing and technical tweaks the latest patch also brings, on the Sea of Thieves website. Sea of Thieves is out now for Xbox One and PC.
