Rum-'n-plunder multiplayer title Sea of Thieves will be receiving a new update next week adding private crews into the mix, developer Rare has announced.

The feature was originally pegged for release this week, although it was delayed after a last-minute bug was discovered that would have hampered the experience for PC users.

Private matches have been long-requested from fans of the pirate-themed adventure game, as it lets players bar random plunderers from being auto-matched into their vessel when not wanted. In the past, there have been instances of people hopping into random games only to get fat on loot and rep without actually doing anything, so the update should help solve this.

The feature will now arrive with the latest Sea of Thieves update next week, which includes a bunch of other updates such as hiding the Gamertag of enemy players while underwater, as well as the ability to hand bananas, cannonballs and other items to each other.

You can find out more details in the video below. Alice put her eyepatch and hook on back in March to test the waters in Sea of Thieves, although wasn't exactly blown away by what she experienced.
