Sea of Thieves' Forsaken Shores expansion has been met with a brief delay, developer Rare has announced.

Forsaken Shores was originally due to roll out tomorrow for Xbox One's swashbuckling adventure, but will now arrive on September 27. Rare explained that the reason behind the delay is due to crashing caused by a memory issue, which was discovered after some testing over the weekend.

'We appreciate your understanding with this change in our release plans. I know this will be disappointing, but I resolutely believe this is the right decision. We are committed to giving everyone the best Forsaken Shores release experience, and this will enable that,' said Rare.

Sea of Thieves' latest content update introduces a wealth of new distractions, including Devil's Roar, a brand new location featuring a volcano and numerous other hazards, including molten rocks and boiling hot waters.

Meanwhile, players can take on the new Cargo Runs, which sees budding pirates lugging cargo from one location to another. It's probably more exciting than it sounds, to be fair.

Sea of Thieves was released back in March and has managed to drum up over five million players worldwide.
