The Duelist class has undergone numerous meta shifts in the ever-changing universe of Marvel Rivals, with divers such as Spider-Man, Psylocke, and Black Panther dominating the battlefield. However, the Scarlet Witch has evolved as an unexpected but effective counter to these elusive flankers. Wanda Maximoff’s kit, which combines crowd management and sustained damage, has proven to be a nightmare in dive-heavy compositions.

Her Chaos Control applies persistent pressure to opponents, while Dark Seal’s stun powers eliminate slippery divers before they can retreat. Scarlet Witch’s ultimate, Reality Erasure, which slows and disrupts enemy placement, has made her a popular choice for players wanting to take down aggressive backline threats. Her ability to penalize over extensions in both competitive and casual encounters has cemented her as an unexpected powerhouse in the DPS roster, particularly in a mobility-oriented meta.

As Marvel Rivals prepares for Season 2, NetEase just released patch notes indicating significant balancing changes, and Scarlet Witch is one of the characters undergoing modifications. While her elevation to the status of diver’s bane has excited fans, it appears that developers have taken notice of her dominance.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 will remove Scarlet Witch’s primary attack percentage damage

According to the latest Marvel Rivals Season 2 Balance Post, Scarlet Witch’s survivability was reduced, but her threat level against Strategists and Duelists was increased, while optimizing her Ultimate Ability release experience.

Here’s also a quick overview of how her abilities were nerfed as well:

  • Remove Chaos Control percentage damage while increasing fixed damage from 60/s to 80/s.
  • Increase Chthonian Burst projectile damage from 35 to 40 and spell field damage from 35 to 40.
  • Increase the cooldown of Mystic Projection from 8 seconds to 10 seconds, and reduce Phased state time from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
  • Rework the slow effect of Reality Erasure to start at 1.5 seconds instead of starting immediately, with a linear increase to a 35% slow over 3.5 seconds.

While the fixed damage of her primary attack, Chaos Control was increased from 60 to 80, a Reddit user explained how this is actually a nerf from her previous stats in hindsight and a very small buff. They wrote, “I’m seeing a lot of people confused about Scarlet Witch’s supposed ’60 to 80 DPS buff’ on her left click, calling it a massive upgrade. What people are forgetting is that she used to have both % health damage and a 10% damage boost from her team-up anchor (Magneto).”

They also gave a before and after comparison of her damage as follows:

Before: 60 base damage + 3% of enemy HP + 10% team-up damage buff

  • Roughly 75 damage to squishies (250–275 HP)
  • Roughly 85 damage to tanks (600 HP)
  • 115.5 DPS against Hulk’s monster form (1500 HP)

Now: 80 flat damage

  • No % HP damage
  • No team-up bonus
  • 80 DPS against everyone

This means that the Witch will now deal +5 damage to squishes and -5 to -35 damage to tanks (depending on their HP), and it’s still a net positive, especially since Scarlet Witch is better off targeting squishes. They further wrote, “But it’s definitely not the massive 20 DPS buff to her left-click people think it is. She is still getting her right-click buff and a new team-up, so it’s still massive overall for her.”
