Super Smash Bros. Brawl may have been delayed, but this doesn’t mean it’s not worth getting excited about. Nintendo has announced a new feature which is sure to go down well amongst the community: saveable and sharable replays.

Masahiro Sakurai, the game’s director and designer noted: “This time, you can view replays. What this means is, the game records what you did in brawls or in Target Smash and lets you review it.

It’s even possible to send replays of your most amazing times to your Wii Friends! If you compete against each other, things will surely heat up.

According to the official Super Smash Bros. Brawl website, “about three minutes worth of replay data can be recorded“.

Sakurai also announced a new character who will appear in the game: King Dedede, the self proclaimed King of Dream Land. You may know Dedede from the Kirby games, but his Brawl incarnation will feature a mechanised wooden mallet that can deliver a mighty blow. He joins the Heavyweight class.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is expected for release in Europe early in 2008.
