Poor old Sonic has had a rough time of recently. The wondrous Sonic Mania released earlier this year to much praise including ours, and we thought the blue speedster was due a comeback. Then Sonic Forces happened and… well.
Anyway, the point of this lament is to report that the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account has announced that the inexplicably popular badly-drawn-Sonic Sanic meme has been made into a t-shirt and it’s now available as free DLC because, reasons? I guess intentionally bad Sonic fan art is similar in nature to creating your own Sonic character for the game…
To be fair, the official Sonic Twitter has been growing in self awareness for a while, after it was taken over in 2015 by someone who seems to bloody love memes. They started buying into Sanic in a big way, so this is staying pretty on brand.
