HappyGiant has announced Sam & Max: This Time It’s Virtual! will see the Freelance Police’s latest adventure arrive on PlayStation VR next week.
The adventure game originally launched for the Oculus/Meta Quest 2 last summer. It puts you almost-literally in the shoes of a new rookie who applies to be part of the Freelance Police. This means you’ll be put through your paces in a series of drills and training challenges fronted by the 90’s point and click favourites.
You’ll take on a range of different minigames, all the while with the titular dog and rabbity-thing cracking wise alongside you. At the same time, you’ll also uncover a mystery lying deep in Cap’n Aquabear’s decrepit theme park. And yes, you’ll get to shoot a giant hydra that lives in a sewer with a rocket launcher. As you do.
To help proceedings feel like a classic Sam & Max adventure, the development team is made up of many former LucasArts staffers. These include series creator Steve Purcell and writer/designer Mike Stemmle. And of course, Sam and Max are voiced by their long time portrayers David Nowlin and Dave Boat.
You can check out a trailer for the game for yourself down below. Sam & Max: This Time It’s Virtual! arrives on PlayStation VR on February 23.
