THQ has reported its fiscal 2009 second quarter results – a net loss of $115.3 million – and while sales are down year-on year the publisher has selected a few second quarter highlights.

Saints Row 2 has shipped two million units globally in its first two weeks and has achieved a Metacritic rating of above 80. Additionally THQ is pleased with a Metacritic rating of above 80 for the internally developed de Blob – no sales/shipped figures were announced.

THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell commented: “We have made substantial progress in improving product quality and innovation, as evidenced by recent shipments of several well-reviewed games including de Blob and Saints Row 2.”

VideoGamer.com agrees with Metacritic, having awarded 8/10 to Saints Row 2 and de Blob.
