Video game voice actors scored a major victory last night as members of the Screen Actors Guild American Federation of Television and Radio Artists– SAG-AFTRA for short – voted by an overwhelming majority of 90% to 10% in favour of a new updated version of their Interactive Media Video Game agreement.

The terms of the deal, originally reached back in October, apply to many voice actors and developers in the industry and include a new bonus structure providing additional payments based on number of sessions worked that must be paid no later than the release date of the game.

Furthermore, voice artists are now set to be given more information as to the projects they’re working on – a big bone of contention in the original arrangement – requiring companies to disclose, among other details, the codenames and genres of the titles they’re working on including if it’s a returning character or a previously published game on top of disclosure if they’ll have to use any potentially offensive terms as well as prior warning for any stunts that may be involved.

As per a press release on the SAG-AFTRA website, the agreement runs from today, November 8 2017 and runs until November 7 2020.
