Ryo’s original English voice actor Corey Marshall is returning to reprise his role in Shenmue 3, it’s been confirmed.

And if you pledge $1,000 or more to the game’s Kickstarter, you can even get him to record a personalised voice message as Ryo.

“We would all like to thank Corey-san for coming back, and especially for all the support he has given to Shenmue over the years,” an update on the game’s Kickstarter reads.

“Corey is as excited for Shenmue’s return as we all are, and to help out, he has magnanimously offered his voice for a special reward. Yes, that’s right–get a personal message from Ryo!  Do not miss this opportunity to get a very special message from Ryo himself. Maybe one those classic Ryo one-liners?”

There’s no word yet on whether the game will include support for dual languages, but there’s still plenty of time to go: Shenmue 3 isn’t due to release until late 2017.
