UPDATE: Activision has responded to claims that Black Ops II has leaked, telling InsideGamingDaily that “the video posted is from a development demo build, using developer tools meant for testing. The retail build was never accessed or compromised.”
But the question still remains: how did iHc James gain access to a pre-release build of Black Ops II?
ORIGINAL STORY: A Call of Duty modder has posted a video of what is claimed to be a leaked version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
iHc James, who has previously leaked details of DLC drops for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 prior to their announcement, posted a gameplay video of Call of Duty: Black Ops II to YouTube in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The video opens with Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia discussing Black Ops II’s anti-cheat systems, before showing modified multiplayer gameplay footage from the game’s Yemen map.
The original YouTube video was pulled following a copyright claim from Activision, but has since been uploaded onto other video sites.
It is not yet known how the game was leaked, or whether the leaked version is of the final retail build. Some have speculated that the footage may have been taken from a leaked build on internal Xbox network PartnerNet.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II officially goes on sale on November 13.
