The new Battlefield title will be set in World War II and will be known as Battlefield V, according to a new report on GamesBeat.

Citing an anonymous source close to the project, the site confirms that the upcoming first-person shooter was previously known as Battlefield 2 internally at Electronic Arts. It’ll be the first entry in the multi-million selling franchise to take place in the Second World War since 2009’s Battlefield 1943.

Battlefield V is expected to be revealed soon and will launch before the end of year, which ties in with EA’s previous confirmation that it will release a new Battlefield game in 2018. Needless to say, it’s not a remaster of the original Battlefield 2, but an all-new title.

Elsewhere, a separate report on USGamer claims that Battlefield V will incorporate loot boxes, although they will only contain cosmetic items. Nothing official has been confirmed by EA or developer DICE at this point, so keep that in mind.

Battlefield 1 was released on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in fall 2016 and was a massive success for EA, notching up over 25 million players as of December last year.
