UPDATE: A PC ‘experience’ is on the way, too, Atari has confirmed.

“RollerCoaster Tycoon is back and it’s coming to mobile!” the publisher tweeted. “Rest assured, there is a PC experience in production now for release this year!”

ORIGINAL REPORT: Atari has announced RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile, a new entry in the classic theme park building series coming soon to iOS devices.

However, the announcement hasn’t gone down well with fans, who have criticised the publisher for turning the series into a “sh**ty cow clicker”. At the time of writing, the reveal trailer had received 35 likes and 1,192 dislikes on YouTube.

“After years of looking forward to a quality sequel to RCT3, this couldn’t be a bigger disappointment,” wrote one fan on the game’s YouTube page. “Atari what the hell are you doing?” said another.

Despite the upset, though, it isn’t yet clear whether the game will follow a free-to-play model or release as a premium title on the App Store. In fact, we don’t know much about it at all, other than that it’s being developed by On5 Games and will let players “create and share the coolest amusement park of your dreams and construct incredible roller coasters to keep your visitors excited.”

Players will also be able to exchange roller coaster blueprints with friends and compete in leaderboards.
