Developer Psyonix has announced a limited time 80s themed event for its enormously popular cars-playing-football game Rocket League, with the Radical Summer event offering a bunch of new content with appearances from many huge 80s franchises.

Kicking off June 10, players will be able to earn casettes through gameplay, which they can then cash in for a host of new decals, items and more for their Battle-Cars featuring famous 80s movies and TV shows such as Ghostbusters, Knight Rider, Back to the Future, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, The Goonies, Voltron, Karate Kid and retro-themed WWE items.

Furthermore, two brand new premium DLC cars will be available to buy in the forms of Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters on June 10, and K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider at a to-be-announced point in the future during the event.

The entire event itself will be broken up into three phases, and these will be headlined by their own new limited time game mode. 80's Blockbusters kicks things off from between June 10 through July 1 and will see a new Ghost Hunt mode, where each team's cars get proton packs and have to try and use their streams to capture the ball into the goal.

The 80's Culture phase is next up, between July 1 and July 22 and will feature Spike Rush mode, which will also co-oncide with Rocket League's 4th Anniverary. Finally 80's Television rounds things off between July 22 to August 22 and will feature Beach Ball mode, which will give proceedings a volleyball vibe. More information can be found on the Rocket League website.

Rocket League is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch from Psyonix, who recently became part of the Epic Games family.
