Psyonix has shown the first footage of Rocket League on the Nintendo Switch at the Nintendo E3 Spotlight, alongside a loose release date for later on this year.

The multi-award winning game brings its high-powered hybrid of football (not soccer) and driving to the Nintendo Switch console. It features all the modes you have come to know and love, with a little more thrown in for Switch owners.

Noted features were:

  • Exclusive customisation items
  • Exclusive battle-cars
  • Cross-network play

The exclusive items and battle-cars will no doubt be Nintendo-themed content, which is all fair and well. What really intrigues me, however, is the inclusion of cross-network play, which will allow Nintendo Switch users to play against folks on Xbox One and PC. Not the PlayStation 4 crowd sadly. The PlayStation remains a walled garden.

Rocket League on Switch, according to Nintendo and Psyonix, will be out Holiday 2017, so that’s later this year.
