Harmonix, MTV Games and EA have announced that Rock Band 2 is to be released in the UK on November 21 for Xbox 360, with the Microsoft console to enjoy an exclusive release window. The game will begin shipping across Europe from November 14.

Although the game will be in stores from November 21, players will need to wait until December before Rock Band 2 standalone hardware is available – it’s a good job existing peripherals work then.

Over 100 songs are included on the Rock Band 2 soundtrack and there’s the added bonus of complete and immediate backwards compatibility for songs purchased from Rock Band’s online music store and the ability to export most songs from the original Rock Band disc. The library of songs is expected to surpass 500 by the year’s end.

There’s currently no word on when Rock Band 2 will be available in Europe for other platforms.
