Over the weekend at EVO 2019, it was confirmed that Riot Games is working on a fighting game, as stated by the co-founder of EVO and studio Radiant Entertainment, Tom Cannon.

In 2016, Riot Games obtained Radiant Entertainment, who were working on Rising Thunder. Rising Thunder was a free-to-play robot-fighting game that reached the alpha stage in its development before the Riot acquisition.

Three years later, it seems that the IP may have been resurrected in some form. ‘Back in 2016 when we joined forces with Riot, I said that we would go in the hole for a while,’ Cannon explained on stage. ‘The reason why we did Rising Thunder in the first place, is that we felt like fighting games deserve to be enjoyed by way more people.’

Cannon described it as ‘the worst-kept secret in the universe’, but added that the game is not coming any time soon. If they are reading this, I modestly suggest to Radiant Entertainment that they could include Matilda into their cybernetic combat roster, who was unquestionably the battle queen of the House Robots from BBC’s Robot Wars. Thank you.
