Critically successful MMO Rift has launched a 7-day free trial for new members. This coincides with the game’s most recent update which adds Facebook integration, three new zone events, and new 10-man raid content.
Future players can access the free trial through the Rift website, which will enable them to quest and PVP for up to a week. Players who choose to stick around can upgrade at any time and continue levelling with their original trial character.
Trion has also introduced a new Ascend-a-Friend program which lets Rift players give out an unlimited number of free 7-day trials and rewards them based on how many recruited users later purchase the game.
Potential rewards include a Swift Ember Steed mount, a dog companion, and a hat.
Don’t knock the hat. Rift has been doing surprisingly well since its release in March this year, and blown the expectations of even the most critical of MMO fans. If you’re in the mood for an MMORPG and don’t want to sign your soul away to WoW then Rift is your best bet.
